Khatta safed dhokla and Nylon Khaman dhokla are the two most popular Gujarati dhokla recipes but, apart from that you can make use of a myriad of ingredients.

Moong Dal Dhokla Flattened by the versatility of Gujarati dishes, I wanted to explore the flavors of some more dishes and hence, I ended up preparing Moong Dal Dhokla the other day. Ingredients of Moong Dal Dhokla

  1. It's 2 cup of moong dal batter.
  2. It's 1 tbsp of ginger green chillies paste.
  3. You need 1/4 tsp of haldi (Turmeric)powder.
  4. Prepare 1 tsp of eno fruit salt.
  5. You need 3 tbsp of oil.
  6. Prepare to taste of Salt.
  7. It's 1 tsp of rai/mustard seeds.
  8. You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds/ jeera.
  9. It's 1 tsp of white sesame seeds.
  10. Prepare 10-12 of curry leaves.
  11. Prepare 2-3 of green chillies chopped.
  12. Prepare 2 tbsp of finely chopped coriander leaves.

I made the dhokla and we would have these with our morning and evening tea. Moong dal dhokla is a savory steamed cake recipe for breakfast or anytime snacks. This soft and spongy moong dal dhokla is cooked with split yellow lentils, and seasoned with some spices. Moong Dal Dhokla step by step

  1. In a mixing bowl put moong dal batter, which is prepared by soaking moong dal for 6 hours and then washed and grinded into a paste. Cover and keep this for 6 - 8 hours for fermentation..
  2. After it is fermented nicely then add ginger green chillies paste, salt, haldi powder and half of oil, mix nicely..
  3. In the meantime boil water in a big utensil for steaming. Now add fruit salt to the batter and pour this in a greased box or a thali. Place this box in a steamer, cover and steam.for 15 minutes..
  4. Then take it out from the steamer and cut them into pieces, but do not take them out. Now prepare the tadka. Heat oil and put rai, jeera and sesame seeds, let them splutter, then add green chillies and curry leaves, let them cook a little then pour this tadka all over the dhokla.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with green chutney..
