Recipe: Perfect Jowar (sorghum) dosa

Sorghum is also known as Jowar in Hindi,we call it Cholam in Tamil, It is also called as white I can post it as well 🙂 This dosa came out nice crispy and tasty when paired with sambar and chutney. Solam/Jowar/Sorghum is one of the millets that is rich in protein, iron, calcium ,B- complex etc,which helps to reduce weight, cures acidity etc. Mix the dosa batter and the jowar batter.

Ingredients of Jowar (sorghum) dosa

  1. You need 2 cups of sorghum flour.
  2. It's 1 cup of wheat flour.
  3. It's 3/4 cup of gram flour.
  4. It's 2 of green chillies.
  5. It's 4-5 of garlic cloves.
  6. You need 1 inch of ginger.
  7. It's 1/4 t tsp of carom seeds.
  8. You need 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  9. Prepare As per taste of Salt.
  10. You need As required of Oil for shallow fry.
  11. It's 1/2 cup of curd.
  12. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cumin powder.
  13. Prepare 5-6 of curry leaves.
  14. Prepare 1 pinch of Asafoetida.

Yesterday I made this jowar dosa recipe /cholam. Instant Millet Dosa prepared from dosa mix made at home from scratch. English - Sorghum , Hindi - Jowar, Tamil - Cholam, Telugu - Jonna, Kannada - Jola, Malayalam- Cholum. Take jowar, rice, chana dal in a container and wash well.

Jowar (sorghum) dosa step by step

  1. Seive all the flours..
  2. Mix all the flours in large mixing bowl..
  3. Make a paste of ginger, garlic and green chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Add previous paste in flour. Add salt, turmeric cream, Asafoetida,carrom seeds, curd and water as required. Make a batter like normal dosa or chilla batter. Keep it for rest 15-20 minutes minimum..
  5. Head griddle pour little oil on it and Spread batter on it. Pour oils from sides too..
  6. Shallow fry from both the sides by flipping it..
  7. Serve it hot with coconut chutany or tomato sauce or as per taste..
  8. Very healthy and tasty tummy filler for kids😊.
